Small Art, Big Grounding: Finding the Time to Create

For the longest time, I’ve had this vision living in the back of my mind: tiny pieces of art paired with even tinier reminders, all tucked onto simple little cards. I wanted to create something tactile—something you could hold in your palm when the world feels a bit too fast.

Life, as it usually does, had other plans. Between the endless “to-do” lists and the general noise of the day-to-day, my little red turtles and cardstock sat gathering dust in the “maybe someday” corner of my brain.

Making the Space
This week, I finally decided that “someday” was actually today. I cleared a small corner of the table, put my phone in another room, and just… started.

There is something incredibly therapeutic about the process:
The Texture: Feeling the weight of the small, sculpted figures.
The Intent: Choosing the right words to anchor the piece.
The Simplicity: No giant canvas, no high stakes—just a small token of peace.

“The Earth is Steady Beneath You”
This first piece features a vibrant red turtle, a classic symbol of persistence and groundedness. Paired with the reminder that the Earth is steady beneath us, it’s meant to be a physical anchor. It’s a tiny reminder that even when we feel like we’re spinning, we have a foundation.

I’m so glad I finally carved out the time. Sometimes, the smallest projects bring the most significant sense of calm.

Note to self: The world won’t end if you take thirty minutes to glue a turtle to a card. In fact, it might just feel a little steadier.

What’s a small project you’ve been putting off? Maybe this is your sign to finally clear the table and start.
